Blackstone, Techstars Gives $10K Grants To Two Texas Student Ventures

Two, Texas-based student startups are receiving $10,000 each from Techstars and the Blackstone Charitable Foundation, as part of a new, 10-week development program called Launchpad Lift, Techstars and Blackstone Charitable Foundation announced this morning. According to the two, Lazarus, a student startup out of Texas A&M University, and Shower Stream, out of the University of Texas at Austin, are both part of the new 10-week program, aimed at helping student-led ventures succeed, each receiving $10,000 and access to resources and opportunities to help their ventures succeed. The new Launchpad Lift program pairs students with an assigned, Techstars mentor to help them succeed--while working around their availability and academic schedules. Lazarus is apparently working on development of ammunition which, according to the groups, "penetrates a threat, then minimizes blood loss post-penetration in order to preserve life." Shower Stream is developing a "smart shower head adapter that installs as easily as a light bulb" and provides water saving information which is fed back to users via the web.
