Phunware Inks Patent Licensing Deal

Austin-based Phunware, which develops enterprise cloud software for mobile application management, said this morning that it has inked a mobile patent licensing deal with Endpoint IP, a company which monetizes patent portfolios for brands. Financial details of the deal were not announced. Endpoint IP says it combines "intellectual property transaction and law firm expertise with capital investment" to monetize intellectual property for brands. The two said that Endpoint IP will license Phunware's patents to new companies, distribution partners, and third partners, and will also provide "Advisory services" to Phunware about intellectual property licensing and enforcement. The two companies did not address how aggressive the patent licensing effort will be from Phunware, went public via a "reverse merger" last year.
