Silicon Labs Inks Patent Deal With Intellectual Ventures

Austin-based Silicon Labs is in a major patent licensing deal, with patent storehouse Intellectual Ventures, the two said Monday. Financial details of the deal were not announced. The companies said the deal will give Silicon Labs, a provider of analog and mixed signal integrated circuits, with access to a majority of IV's patent portfolio. Intellectual Ventures is the patent licensing firm headed by Nathan Myhrvold, the former CTO of Microsoft. Intellectual Ventures is known--often controversially--for its licensing of a large storehouse of key technology patents to large technology companies.
