Data.world Acquires Capsenta

Austin-based data.world, the data analysis startup led by Brett Hurt, has acquired Austin-based Capsenta, which develops knowledge graphing and data tools. Financial terms of the buy were not announced. According to data.world, the acquisition will help it boost its knowledge graph and data virtualization capabilities. Capsenta is a spinout of The University of Texas at Austin (UT-Austin), and had been venture backed by LiveOak Venture Partners. Capsenta's technology was developed at UT Aistin, in the labs of Dr. Juan Sequenda and Professor Daniel Miranker. As part of the acquisition, co-founder and Senior Vice President of Technical Sales and Research Dr. Juan Sequeda, PhD will join data.world as Principal Scientist with CEO Wayne Heideman becoming General Manager of Capsenta.
