GameStop Hopes Redesign Will Revive Business
Grapevine, Texas-based videogame retailer GameStop is hoping a new redesign of its stores will help it revive its business, saying on Monday that it is in a strategic partnership with design firm R/GA. According to the two, they will "re-design the future of the Cultural Gaming Experience", with a focus on creating "unique in-store experiences". The efforts include new ways to try games before they buy; a "unique layout and purpose" that appeals to gamers, new "e-leagues" at its locations, and also locations which will only sell "retro" gaming software and hardware. GameStop said it will be piloting the new store concepts in select markets. Financial details of the deal were not announced.
