Next Coast Ventures Names Chief Operating Officer

Austin-based venture capital firm Next Coast Ventures has named Jonathan Kaplan as its new Chief Operating Officer, the firm announced on Wednesday, the company's first hire since it started in 2015. Kaplan is an Austin technology startup veteran, having most recently served as Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel of RetailMeNot. He also had served at such legal firms as DLA Piper and Latham & Watkins. Next Coast Ventures said that Kaplan helped guide RetailMeNot through its $630M acquisition by Harland Clarke Holdings. Next Coast also said that Kaplan will help the firm with investment strategy and advising its portfolio leadership on their corporate development, compliance and operations.
