TI Sets Aside $15M for Academic Medical Research
Dallas, Texas-based semiconductor manufacturer Texas Instruments Inc. revealed Wednesday that it has allocated $15 million to fund medical technology research at selected universities across the globe. TI said the money will support research and development of emerging medical technologies for several years in areas such as personal medical devices, implantables, medical imaging, wireless health care systems and biosensor innovations. TI noted that many recent medical advances have incorporated its technology, from portable imaging and retinal prosthesis to DSP-based robotics and wireless communications for patient monitoring.
