Acacia Research Sets Up HQ In Frisco

Acacia Research Corporation, a publicly held licensee of patents and technology, announced this morning that it has moved the corporate headquarters for its patent licensing operations from Newport Beach, California, to Frisco, Texas. Acacia Research said its subsidiary, Acacia Research Group, LLC, are responsible for business development and licensing of its patent portfolios. Reason for the move was not given, but the new HQ places it in the Eastern District Court of Texas, which is a popular location for patent infringement lawsuits. Acacia acquires, and often aggressively pursues companies to license its patents. Acacia Research did not say how many jobs the relocation will bring to the area.
