Freescale Names Beyere CEO, Chairman
Freescale Semiconductor, a manufacturer of embedded integrated circuits, reported Wednesday that it has hired Rich Beyer as chief executive officer and board chairman. The Austin, Texas-based company said Beyer will succeed Michel Mayer, who will remain as board chairman and CEO until March 2008. Freescale noted that Beyer hails from Intersil Corp., a producer of high-performance analog semiconductors, where he was CEO and a director. Beyer joined Intersil in 2002 when it acquired Elantec Semiconductor Inc., where he was president, CEO and director. Freescale is a privately held company that reported sales of $5.7 billion in 2007.
