Newspaper publisher The Austin American-Statesman revealed Thursday that an online replica of its print edition will be available to Central Texas classrooms as part of an education program. The Statesman said its new electronic edition was developed for classroom use by NewsStand Inc., an Austin-based online content publishing tools firm. The Statesman noted that its e-editions will feature a customized portal, curriculum for teachers and access to several education-specific programs sponsored by the Statesman's newspapers-in-education team. The Statesman added that the virtual newspapers are currently available to 3,639 students at 47 area schools. NewsStand is venture backed by Adams Capital Management, Noro-Moseley Partners, and the New York Times Company, and provides its publishing tools to a number of papers across the US and internatinally.
