Freescale Gets Win With Sony
Austin-based Freescale Semiconductor has scored a design win with Sony, the firm said this morning, where Sony will use the firm's PowerQUICC processors in its high definition, broadcast video cameras. Freescale said that Sony will use its PowerQUICC communicatinos processors in its XDCAM HD422 Series professional disc system, which is used for professional, HD video recording. Financial impact of the design win was not disclosed. Sony is using Freescale's MP8248 and MPC8548E communications processors, which provides a combination of processing capability with integrated, on chip communications and other functions.
