Mirage Networks Gets Milestone Towards Another Patent
Austin-based Mirage Networks, a developer of network access control (NAC) products for IT security, said this morning that the firm has received a Notice of Allowance for a patent application from the firm. The notice is the first step in acceptance of a patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. According to Mirage Networks, the patent covers its agentless, out-of-band security model for network access control. The firm said the Notice of Allowance will result in the patent being issued in the normal course of business. According to the USPTO, the patent application actually comes from Wholepoint Corporation, which was acquired by Mirage Networks in 2004. The patent app was filed in October of 2002, and names Steven R. Ocepek, Brian A. Lauer, and David A. Dziadziola as inventors.
