RackSpace Open Sources APIs
San Antonio-based RackSpace Hosting has opened up the programming interfaces for the firm's cloud computing offerings, the firm said today, and will allow developers to copy, implement, and modify its specifications. The firm said its is releasing the specifications for its Cloud Server and Cloud Files APIs, under the Creative Commons 3.0 Attribution license. The firm also said that its language bindings for Java, PHP, Python, C#, and Ruby have also been released under the MIT open source license. The release means that developers working on cloud computing software are now able to view and modify the source code as they feel fit, making it much easier to adapt third party software to work with RackSpace's products.
