Houston Firm Sues Twitter Over Patents
Sugar Land-based TechRadium, a provider of mass notification services, said Wednesday that it is suing popular micro-blogging site Twitter over three of its patents. TechRadium said that Twitter is infringing on its patents, US Patents 7,130,389, issued in October of 2006; 7,496,183 issued in February of 2009; and 7,519,165, issued in April of 2009. The firm claims that its patents cover technology developed for emergency notification systems, which it sells to schools, businesses, the government, and the military; the firm said that the use of Twitter's services by companies and municipalities for emergency notification is an infrigement on its technology. TechRadium said it is represented by Attorney W. Shawn Staples of the Mostyn Law firm in Houston in the complaint.
