Firm Sues Dell, HP, Apple, Others on 3Com Patents

Tyler, Texas-based U.S. Ethernet Innovations revealed Friday that it has sued Acer, Apple, ASUS, Dell, Fujitsu, Gateway, Hewlett Packard, Sony, and Toshiba over infringement of several 3Com patents. The firm--which says it was specifically formed to continue 3Com Corporation's licensing program on behalf of its portfolio of foundational patents in Ethernet technology--said it is looking for "aggressive enforcement" of its patnts over "fundamental ethernet technologies." The patents in questions are United States Patent Numbers 5,732,094; 5,434,872; 5,307,459; and 5,299,313.
