Freescale Targets Adobe Flash Support

Austin-based Freescale Semiconductor is looking to enable support for Adobe's Flash Player 10.1, the firm said Tuesday, as part of a collaborative effort with Adobe and Movial. According to Freescale, it is working to bring the Adobe Flash Player 10.1 to platforms using the firm's i.MX processor, in an effort to bring video support to the processor family. The firm said the effort will provide Linux and Android-based systems with Flash support with H.264 video, sometime in the first half of 2010. Freescale is targeting its i.MX products at smartbook, smart phone, netbook, and other Internet-enabled products. Flash is heavily used by online sites to deliver and stream video content.
