Freescale Powers Ford SYNC
Austin-based Freescale Semiconductor revealed today that the firm's i.MX516 multimedia applications processor and S12XEP100 microcontroller are being embedded into Ford's next generation SYNC in-car communications system. Ford announced the new system, which provides connections to personal mobile devices to Ford autos, at CES. Freescale did not give details on expected volume from the Ford design win, but said Ford expects to make its new Ford SYNC system available this year.
