Texas Memory Systems Joins Linux Development Effort

Houston-based Texas Memory Systems, a maker of solid state data storage products, has joined The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit supporting the Linux operating system. The addition was announced by The Linux Foundation Monday. TMS is a developer of PCI-e based solid state disk drives, which use memory instead of spinning platters for storage. The firm supplies its products to financial services, Internet, enterprise, and high performance computing (HPC) environments. According to The Linux Foundation, Texas Memory Systems will work with the Linux kernal community and the foundation to include SSD support in the mainline Linux kernel.
