UTEP Gets $9M For Advanced Printed Electronics Research Facility
The University of Texas El Paso has scored $9M for a new, advanced printed electronics research facility, the school said Monday, with funding from the Texas Emerging Technology Fund, Lockheed Martin, as well as the UT System. According to UTEP, the new center will focus on combining 3D rapid prototyping technology along with printed electronics technologies to design new complex three-dimensional mechanical and electronic devices. The new center is being funded in part by $3M via the Texas Emerging Technology Fund, as well as $3M from Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. UTEP said the new, Structural and Printed Emerging Technologies (SPEC) Center in the UTEP College of Engineering will be headed by Dr. Kenneth H. Church.
