Equinix Opens Another Data Center In Dallas
Colocation provider Equinix said today that it has opened up its fifth data center in Dallas. Equinix said the firm invested approximately $25M for the first phase of a two-phase build out, adding approximately 34,000 gross square feet of data center space and the equivalent of 450 cabinets to the location. Equinix--like many other data center operators in the region--said its expansion in the city came because Dallas is a "key" Internet and peering exchange point for networks. Equinix is planning to expand into an additional, 23,000 gross square feet of additional space and another 450 cabinets in its second phase buildout.
