AT&T Targets Upgrades To Android Gingerbread
Dallas-based AT&T said this morning that it will be upgrading all of its post-paid, Android smartphones it introduced this year to the new, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) version. According to AT&T, It is updating Motorola ATRIX 4G users today, and HTC Inspire 4G users in coming weeks. The firm said that it also plans on supporting Gingerbread on the LG Phoenix, Pantech Crossover, Samsung Captivate 4G, and Samsung Infuse 4G in the future. Along with the update, AT&T said that the ATRIX 4G update also includes the ability to download applications from third-party stores. That download ability was spurred by the entry of Amazon.com into the Android app marketplace; currently, users had been able to download Android apps from Amazon only on non-AT&T Android phones.
