Slacker Launches Austin City Limits Station
Slacker, the online streaming music and personalized radio firm, may not have an Austin presence anymore, but the firm still has its heart (or, at least, ears) in Austin, saying Tuesday that it has launched Austin City Limits 2011, the official personal radio station of the Austin City Limits Music Festival. The new station, available for free on Slacker's music service, features bands and artists in the festival's 2011 lineup. Slacker said the station will also feature exclusive interview content. The festival is running September 16th through the 18th, but the station will be available before, during, and after the event itself. Slacker was started in Austin, but consolidated its Austin offices into its San Diego headquarters in 2008; the firm is still venture backed by local venture firms Sevin Rosen and Austin Ventures, among others.
