Dell: We're Becoming A Solutions, Services Business
Round Rock-based Dell says it is becoming more of a solutions and services provider, as the firm's business increasingly shifts away from the PC hardware business. Dell announced its results Tuesday, saying that its solutions and services business now accounts for 50 percent of its gross margin, and that it's continuing to re-shape its business as an end-to-end IT provider. Dell reported revenue of $14.4 billion in the quarter, which was a 4 percent decrease from the previous year. The bright spot for Dell's business was its own storage business, which it says grew 24 percent to $423 million.
