Dell Aligns With Microsoft On Android Patents
Round Rock-based Dell and software giant Microsoft have reached a deal on royalties around Dell's Android-based products, the two said Wednesday. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The two said the patent and intellectual property deal covers Android and Chrome OS devices and Xbox gaming consoles, and where Dell will pay royalties on Android or Chrome platforms. The deal also includes a license to Xbox gaming consoles. Microsoft has been aggressively pursuing companies to buy patent coverage on Android platforms--which, despite being created by Google, Microsoft says contains technology patented by the firm.
