Affiniti Acquires Sting Communications

Austin-based Affiniti, a provider of broadband communications focused on schools and health facilities in rural and underserved communities, said yetserday that it has acquired Sting Communications, a Pennsylvania-based communications provider. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Sting Communications has a 1,500 mile fiber network which serves rural school districts in Pennsylvania. Affiniti said it will use the buy for a range of new products and services. The company says it currently has network of more than 50,000 square miles in 21 states serving approximately 1,000 schools and 45 healthcare institutions.
