Ambiq Micro Gets $15M For Ultra Low Power Chips

Austin-based Ambiq Micro, which develops technology to reduce the energy consumption of semiconductors, has raised $15M in a Series C funding round. The funding was led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB), and also included Austin Ventures, Mercury Fund, and ARM Holdings. As part of the funding, the company said that KPCB's Wen Hsieh joins the company's board. Ambiq Micro is developing real time clock and other, low power integrated circuits specifically targeted at reducing power consumption in Internet-of-Things and other applications.
