Silicon Labs Buys Bluegiga

Austin-based Silicon Labs said late Tuesday that it has acquired Finnish wireless technology developer Bluegiga, in a deal worth $61M in cash. According to Silicon Labs, BlueGiga is expected to contribute between $25M and $28M in revenues in 2015. BlueGiga makes Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and other wireless modules, along with the associated software stacks and SDKs to run those modules. Silicon Labs said those products are used in the industrial automation, consumer electronics, audio, automotive, retail, residential, and health and fitness markets. Silicon Labs said it will continue to operate out of BlueGiga's Espoo, Finland location.
