Silicon Labs Reports Record Revenue, Driven By Internet-of-Things
Austin-based microcontroller and semiconductor designer Silicon Labs reports this morning that it has seen record revenue for the company, as interest in the "Internet of Things" (IoT) market has surged. The company--whose products are widely used in the IoT and device market--said it saw a new record of $163.7M in its first quarter. The company said that record was driven specifically by its IoT segment of its business, which it had previously called its MCU, wireless, sensors and analog segment, which contributed $60.9M to its revenues in the quarter. Silicon Labs has been supplying sensors, microcontrollers, and other products into the embedded market for years and years, however, there has been a recent resurgence of interest in connecting various devices into the Internet, which has spurred growth in that area.
