Younicos Launches New Energy Storage Product
Austin- and Berlin-based Younicos, which develops energy storage products, said Monday that it has launched a brand new, "plug-and-play" energy storage system it calls the Y.Cube. The new system integrates a block of lithium ion batteries in an enclosure, controlled by the company's software. Younicos said the system is its first, hardware product. The new systems are available as 250 or 500 kVa blocks, which can be either deployed individually or combined into bigger installations. Pricing on the new system was not announced. Younicos said the systems can be remotely monitored via the company's control centers in Austin and Germany. Younicos acquired Texas-based energy storage startup Xtreme Power back in 2014.
