uShip Set To Open New Headquarters In East Riverside

Austin-based online shipping marketplace uShip said on Tuesday that it is opening up a new headquarters in East Riverside, as part of an expansion of the company. uShip, led by Matt Chasen, said it will open up a new, 45,000 square foot headquarters just south of Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin, with three stories to house its entire, 200-person workforce. East Riverside, which had previously been known for its strip malls and pawn shops, has been undergoing a revitalization over the last few years. uShip's new headquarters previously housed the Capitol City Trade & Technical School. uShip says the new space includes such features as a gourmet kitchen and dining area; shower facilities, locker rooms, and bike storage; nursing rooms for new mothers; and an outdoor area.
