Cirrus Logic Rolls Amazon Alexa Voice Development Kit
Austin-based semiconductor maker Cirrus Logic is hoping to enable the embedding of Amazon Alexa voice support in consumer electronics products, with a new development kit. Cirrus Logic said it has launched a development kit for Alexa Voice Service (AVS), optimized for smart speakers and smart home applications. The new Voice Capture Development Kit for Amazon AVS uses a components from Cirrus to help implement Alexa "wake" words and capture audio for voice commands. According to Cirrus Logic, the new toolkit also includes algorithms to suppress noise and even capture wake words through loud music. The toolkit is based on Cirrus Logic's CS47L24 smart codec, CS7250B digital MEMS microphones and software, plus a Raspberry Pi 3. The company is offering up the kit through its distributor, Digikey, for $400.
