HomeAway At Center Of Patent Suit Filed By IBM Against Expedia

Austin-based vacation travel site HomeAway, along with sister sites Hotels.com, Hotwire, Orbitz and Travelocity, are at the heart of a patent infringement lawsuit filed on Tuesday by IBM. The lawsuit, filed by IBM against HomeAway's parent company, Expedia, says that HomeAway and Expedia's other travel sites are violating several of the company's patents covering "single sign-on" technology. IBM is one of the most prolific patent filers in the world, with 8,088 patents granted to the company alone in just 2016.
