Smarter Sorting Finds $5M
Austin-based Smarter Sorting, a startup which uses technology to help municipalities redirect household hazardous waste towards reuse, rather than incineration or disposal, said this week that it has raised $5M in a seed funding round. The funding came from RTP Ventures, along with other un-named backers. The company said it uses technology to scan, sort, and process chemical waste, which can be sold to buyers specifically looking for latex, oil-based paint, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, household products and other products. The company is led by CEO Chris Ripley.
