Freescale, Qualcomm Atheros Tie On Home Energy Management

Austin-based Freescale Semiconductor said Thursday that it has tied with Qualcomm Atheros, to demonstrate usage of its technology for home energy management. The firm said the two have shown support for the new HomePlug Green PHY (HomePlug GP) standard, which is aimed at helping consumers and utilities monitor and control electricity consumption of in-home appliances. Freescale provides a reference design for products controlling home energy consumption, among other related products.
