Gazzang Debuts Big Data Encryption Product

Austin-based Gazzang said this morning that it has expanded its encryption and key management software into the "big data" database market today, saying it is now providing support for Hadoop, Cassandra and MongoDB. The three databases are used extensively in big, data-intensive, cloud-based database implementations. According to Gazzang, its new product transparently encrypts and secures data "on the fly", in addition to managing keys to that encryption. The firm said its new platform handles the complexity of dealing with data spread across either the cloud or on premises. Gazzang is venture backed by Austin Ventures and Silver Creek Ventures.
