Dell Targets EMC, NetApp With Trade-ins
Round Rock-based Dell is taking aim at competitors EMC and NetApp, saying Wednesday that it will offer up a new set of cash credits and attractive lease terms for users to trade in storage from those companies. Dell said that the program is aimed at users retiring EMC CLARiiON CX, Celerra and VNX, and various NetApp FAS systems. Dell is hoping those customers will look to switch to Dell Compellant and EqualLogic storage products. Storage sales have been one of the growth areas in Dell's business, as it increasingly moves away from the thin margins and competition in the PC market.
