Gazzang Debuts Key Backup and Recovery Service
Austin-based Gazzang, the developer of cloud encryption and key management software backed by Austin Ventures and Silver Creek Ventures, debuted a new service Thursday aimed at Ubuntu Linux desktop users. The firm said its new zEscrow service--which is free--helps users of Ubuntu back up and recover the randomly generated keys which are used by the operating system to protect home directories. Gazzang said that the new tool is available as part of the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS archive. The new solution is aimed at helping users of the OS, who risk completely losing their data if they forget their login password or associated mount passphrase.
