Texas Memory Systems Acquired By IBM
Houston-based solid state storage maker Texas Memory Systems is being acquired by IBM, IBM announced this morning, after the firms reached a definitive agreement for IBM to acquire TMS. Financial terms of the deal were not announced. TMS makes high performance, flash-based storage systems. TMS was founded in 1978, and employs approximately 100. IBM said it plans to invest in and support the TMS product portfolio, looking to integrate the technology into storage, servers, software, and its PureSystems offerings. TMS is one of the original manufacturers of solid state storage, and area which has suddenly grown into prominence and interest in the storage industry, and which has recently seen a lot of startup and other activity.
