Silicon Labs Buys Energy Micro
Austin-based analog and mixed signal semiconductor devleoper Silicon Labs announced this morning that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquired Energy Micro AS, a Norwegian developer of 32-bit microcontrollers (MCUs) and RF radios. Silicon Labs said it would pay $115M in cash up-front, plus approximately $55M in earn-out for Energy Micro. Energy Micro's products are used for the smart energy, home automation, security, and portable electronics markets. Energy Micro was based in Oslo, Norway.
