VMware Chops 800 Employees Ahead Of Dell Acquisition

Virtualization software developer VMware has cut 800 employees, the company said Tuesday, ahead of the acquisition of parent company EMC by Dell. Accordin gto VMware, the move helps it to streamline its operations. The company will take a charge of between $55M and $65M for the move. Dell said in October that it would pay $67 billion for data storage giant EMC, which owns the majority of VMware.
