Ford Deploys Self Driving Cars To Austin

Ford said on Wednesday that it has brought its self driving Argo vehicles to Austin, as it expands its self driving vehicle testing efforts. According to Ford, it has already been conducting tests and mapping out streets in Austin ahead of deployment of its Fusion Hybrid AV test vehicles. The city will be the third in the nation to host Ford's self driving vehicles, which already are being tested in Washington, D.C., and Miami-Dade County. The vehicles are expected to hit Austin roads around November, with a safety driver and observer on board; Ford said it will initially be operating in Downtown Austin and east Austin. Ford explained that it will also be working with the community and will engage with business and community groups about how its new technology might be used in Austin.
